- Two Indian players named Nihal Sarin and Divya Deshmukh were declared to have lost on time in the final round after an apparent loss of internet connection for them.

- Kerala is all set to establish first International women’s trade centre (IWTC) of India at Angamaly.

- Mercedes racer Lewis Hamilton (Great Britain) has won Formula One Belgian Grand Prix 2020 in Stavelot, Belgium.
- This was his 5th victory of the season and 89th victory of his racing career.
- F1 Belgian Grand Prix 2020 second position was bagged by Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes-Finland) followed by Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands)
- The race was the seventh round in the 2020 Formula One World Championship.

4. Congress MP Harikrishnan Vasanthakumar passes away
- Congress MP Harikrishnan Vasantha Kumar (70 years) passed away due to COVID-19.
- He was elected as the Member of Parliament to the 17th Lok Sabha from Kanyakumari constituency (Tamil Nadu) in 2019.
- He was also the founder and chairman of Vasanth & Co, which is one of the largest retail home appliance chains in Tamil Nadu.
- He was the founder and MD of Tamil satellite TV channel Vasanth TV.

- Co-creator of the cartoon series, Scooby-Doo Joe Ruby (87 years) passed away in Westlake Village, California
- He is an American animator, editor, writer, and producer
- He created popular characters of kids show Scooby-Doo, along with his creative partner Ken Spears
- He along with Ken Spears started production company named Hanna-Barbera Productions and created other memorable cartoons like Thundarr the Barbarian, Mister T, Superman and Alvin and the Chipmunks as well.

6. India withdraws from Russia’s multilateral military exercise Kavkaz 2020
- India has withdrawn its participation from Russia's Kavkaz Exercise 2020 that was to be held in Russia between 15 to 26 September 2020.
- Kavkaz 2020 will be held in Astrakhan, Southern Russia where member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and Central Asian countries would be participating.
- Other participants: China, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Belarus, Turkey, Armenia, Abkhazia.

- Reliance Industries Limited will buy Kishore Biyani’s Future retail for Rs 24,713 crore.
- Future Retail, Future Lifestyle and Future Consumer will be merged into Future Enterprises (FEL).
- FEL will sell the retail, wholesale business, logistics and warehouse business to Reliance Retail and Fashion Lifestyle Limited (RRFLL).
- The acquisition is subject to SEBI, CCI, NCLT, shareholders, creditors, and other requisite approvals as of now.

11. Arsenal won 2020 FA Community Shield beating Liverpool
- Arsenal claimed 2020 FA Community Shield by beating Premier League champions Liverpool by 5–4 on penalties
- Community Shield was played between the winners of Premier League, Liverpool, and FA Cup winner, Arsenal at the Wembley Stadium in London.
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the goal for Arsenal while Takumi Minamino scored for Liverpool.
- This is the 16th time that Arsenal is winning the Community Shield title.
