1. NCPUL organizes World Urdu Conference in New Delhi
- Union Education Minister addressed the inaugural session of 2-days long World Urdu Conference in New Delhi.
- The conference is organized by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL)
- Urdu writers and personalities will be honoured at the conference with awards in the name of Amir Khusrow, Mirza Ghalib, Agha Hashar, Ram Babu Saxena and Daya Shankar Naseem.
- NCPUL established in 1996 as the National Nodal Agency for the promotion of the Urdu language.

2. Ministry of Social Justice to launches ‘KIRAN’ Mental Health helpline
- Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is all set to launch 24×7 Mental Health Rehabilitation helpline number named as ‘Kiran’
- The helpline will assist people to cope with mental health issues specially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Toll-free Kiran helpline number: 1800-599-0019
- It will be operated through 25 Institutions in 13 languages.
- It will provide callers support for early screening, first-aid, psychological support, distress management, etc.

3. IIT Alumni Council partners Russia to build for hybrid quantum computer
- IIT Alumni Council has partnered Russian Companies Lomonosov Moscow State University and Russoft to build World’s largest and fastest hybrid quantum computer in India.
- The partnership will aim to access and transfer key technologies like critical modules in cryogenics, cryptography and modularised cloud management technology.
- It will be helpful for solving infrastructure challenges.
- Quantum Computing is million times faster than the largest supercomputer in India

4. Famous Tennis doubles pair Bryan brothers announces retirement
- Renowned men’s doubles Tennis pair Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan have announced their retirement from Tennis.
- The pair bagged Open Era record with 119 trophies in 26 seasons that comprises all 4 Grand Slams, 9 ATP Masters and Olympic gold medal in 2012
- There first victory was at 2003 French Open after which they reached at the top of the ATP doubles rankings and remained at the top 1 position for 438 weeks.
- They were the first team to clinch a Career Golden Masters in 2014.

5. BRICS Foreign Ministers virtual meeting to be held on 4th September
- BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting is going to be held on 4th September 2020 to exchange views on topical international matters.
- The meet will be take place under the chairmanship of Russia and will be addressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
- It will be the 4th edition of BRICS Foreign Minister meet.
- The last meet was also held virtually on 28 April
- BRICS President: Marcos Prado Troyjo.
- BRICS Headquarters: Shanghai, China.

6. Govt Forms 5-member panel to redefine DRDO Charter
- Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Chairman G. Satheesh Reddy has constituted the 5-member expert committee to redefine the role of DRDO for the current and futuristic defence and battlefield scenarios.
- The committee will be headed by V. Ramagopal Rao (Director- IIT, Delhi)
- The panel will study and review the charter of duties of all 52 laboratories of DRDO and will redefine their role
- It will also discuss reduction of military’s dependence on imports

7. 5th virtual BRICS Industry Minister’s Meeting held
- 5th edition of BRICS Industry Minister’s Meeting was held through video conferencing to discuss ways to boost cooperation in areas of 5G and Artificial Intelligence.
- Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash represented India at the meet
- The meeting adopted a joint statement on cooperation in new industries (5G, AI and industrial Internet) among BRICS nation

9. Axis Bank launches ‘Axis Liberty Savings Account’
- Axis Bank has introduced savings account named as ‘Axis Liberty Savings Account’ for millennial customers.
- It is introduced for salaried professionals under 35 years.
- Customer can either maintain a monthly average balance of Rs. 25000 or spend Rs. 25000 every month using Liberty Debit Card which comes with this account.
- Its debit card will have 5% flat cashback across food, entertainment, shopping, and travel.
- It also provides a complimentary insurance cover of ₹20,000

10. NHAI develops Vendor Performance Evaluation System
- National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has developed Vendor Performance Evaluation System to create ‘Performance Rating’ System for Consultants, Contractors and Concessionaires of NHAI
- NHAI has introduced portal based objective assessment of vendors to track the performance of the vendors for various NHAI projects.
- The vendors will have to conduct self-assessment by uploading documents pertaining to the project activities that will be evaluated by NHAI

11. VSSUT to set up Space Innovation-cum-Incubation Centre with ISRO
- Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Odisha became the first University in India to set up a Space Innovation-cum-Incubation Centre with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
- AS virtual MoU has been signed between VSSUT and ISRO for the same
- Under this, ISRO will offer technical consultancy support and financial assistance of Rs.50 lakhs for development of infrastructure at VSSUT.

12. Book titled ‘Cricket Drona’ to be released in September
- A book titled ‘Cricket Drona’ based on the life of one of the India’s most respected cricket coaches, Vasoo Paranjape, is to be released on 2nd September 2020.
- It is published by Penguin.
- The book has been co-authored by Vasoo Paranjape’s son, former India player and current national selector Jatin along with cricket journalist Anand Vasu.
- The book also includes essays written by Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar.
