1. Shri Santosh Gangwar launches Logo of Labour Bureau
- Minister of State (I/C) for Labour and Employment, Santosh Gangwar has rolled out official Logo of Labour Bureau
- It represents Labour Bureau as a data based organization dealing in data related to workers and work.
- It also depicts the three goals that Labour Bureau strives to achieve in generating quality data i.e. Accuracy, Validity and Reliability.
- Logo comprises of Blue wheel (representing work); a tricolored Graph, along with wheat ears (signifying rural labour).

2. Google launches ‘Kormo’ app for finding entry-level jobs
- Google has rolled out employment application titled as ‘Kormo Jobs’ to help millions of Indians to get entry-level jobs
- It will be beneficial for young professionals and those who have lost their jobs during the pandemic
- Google had tested this app under brand Spot in 2019 that saw more than 2 million verified jobs posted on the platform and now spot is rebranded as Kormo Jobs with standalone app status
- Google launched Employment app for the first in 2018 for Bangladesh

3. AIM ties up with India-Sweden Healthcare to expand Start-up ecosystem
- Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog has tied-up with India Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre to promote Indian entrepreneurs boosting vibrant start-up ecosystem in India
- Letter of Intent has been signed between the two in New Delhi
- The collaboration will support initiatives of AIM by conducting programmes, awareness campaigns, activities, events
- India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre is a collaboration between AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur and Business Sweden.

4. Apple becomes First U.S. company to reach $2 trillion stock market value
- Apple Inc. has become first publicly traded U.S. company to reach over $2 trillion market stock value after its share price climbed above $467.77
- Apple shares have gained around 60% in 2020 as the company overcame the shutdown of factories in China that was producing the iPhone and closure of its retail sales amid coronavirus
- Apple has become World’s only second company to hit $2 trillion market cap.
- Prior to this, Oil Major Saudi Aramco reach $2 trillion market value

5. Health Minister launches video game to spread COVID-19 awareness
- Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has launched an interactive video game on COVID-19 titled as ‘Corona Fighters’
- Two new videos urging adherence to COVID Appropriate Behaviours has also been launched
- These video games are designed to influence the players’ actions in the real world, reminding them to take the right precautions and escape infection.
- It is a simple enjoyable medium to get a serious message across the wider public.

6. NPCI launches its subsidiary ‘NPCI International Payments Ltd’
- National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has rolled out its fully-owned subsidiary firm named as ‘NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL)’
- NIPL will expand real-time payment system Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay in other countries
- NIPL will have the responsibility of exporting NPCI’s indigenously developed offerings and technological acumen to foreign markets revolutionizing the global payments landscape
- Ritesh Shukla has been appointed as NIPL’s CEO

7. Day for Remembrance and Tribute to Terrorism Victims being observed today
- International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism is observed every year on August 21 to pay tribute to the individuals across the globe who have been attacked, injured, traumatized or lost their lives because of terrorist attacks.
- The day was adopted by United Nations General Assembly in 2017
- It was first celebrated on 2018.
- This year, United Nations Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic

8. IISc professor Biman Bagchi selected for 2021 Joel Henry Hildebrand Award
- Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Professor Biman Bagchi has been selected as 2021 recipient of the Joel Henry Hildebrand Award in the Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry of Liquids
- The awards are conferred by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and is sponsored by ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Co.
- It will be presented at the society’s spring 2021 National Meeting and Expo in San Antonio, Texas in March 2021
- The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate

9. CBSE introduces Virtual Inspection Of Schools
- CBSE has introduced VIOS (Virtual Inspection Of Schools) mode for school inspection to be eligible for upgradation from middle to secondary school or secondary to senior secondary school.
- It is the latest in-house initiative implemented during COVID times, which is being seen as a time and cost-effective facility for schools to upgrade affiliation status as per Affiliation Bye-Laws, 2018.
- CBSE has also defined Standard Operating Procedure to conduct VIOS.

10. Bhagat Singh Koshyari took additional charge as Goa Governor
- Bhagat Singh Koshyari (78 years) has been sworn in as Governor of Goa at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Panaji
- He was administered the oath by Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Justice Dipankar Datta.
- He is the Governor of Maharashtra and will continue to be in position, along with additional charge of Goa.
- He succeeded Satya Pal Malik who was transferred from Goa and appointed Governor of Meghalaya.

11. US Senator Kamala Harris nominated as US Democratic Party candidate
- US Senator Kamala Harris becomes first Indian American to accept nomination for the US Vice Presidential candidate for Democratic Party.
- She is an American politician and lawyer who has served as the junior United States senator from California since 2017.
- She is the first Asian-American, and the third female vice presidential candidate
- 2020 United States presidential election (the 59th quadrennial presidential election) is scheduled to be held on November 3, 2020

12. UP Govt launches Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2020
- Uttar Pradesh Govt has announced Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2020 in a bid to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of achieving ZERO import of electronics goods
- It aims at inviting investment of 40 thousand Crore rupees in next 5 years and generate four lakh direct employment.
- UP CM has already announced Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2017 for Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway regions.
- New 2020 policy has been extended to the entire state
