1. MS Dhoni announces retirement from International Cricket
- Legendary Indian Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has announced his retirement from International Cricket
- He was a brilliant batsman-wicket keeper and is the only captain to win all ICC trophies: 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, Asia Cups, 2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy
- He represented India in 350 ODIs, 90 Tests and 98 T20 Internationals.
- Dhoni has scored 10,773 runs in ODI at an average of 50.58.
- Along with him, Suresh Raina also announced retirement.

2. RBI approves Rs 57,128 crore as surplus to Central Government
- RBI has approved Rs 57,128 crore as surplus/ dividend to Central Government for the accounting year 2019-20 at 584th meeting of Central Board of RBI
- The meeting was chaired by RBI’s Governor Shaktikanta Das
- As per Section 47 of RBI Act, profits of RBI are to be transferred to the government after financial stability and other considerations.
- This year’s surplus transfer is 67.5% less than the 2018-2019
- RBI has also decided to maintain the Contingency Risk Buffer at 5.5%

3. Defence Minister launches ‘SRIJAN’ to promote indigenization in Defence
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has rolled out ‘SRIJAN’ portal that will provide access to the vendors to take up items for indigenization
- It is a one stop shop online portal and can be accessed at ‘srijandefence.gov.in’
- It will allow DPSUs/OFB/SHQs to display the list of imported items, which will then be selected by Indian Industry to design, develop and manufacture as per their capability or through joint ventures promoting self-reliant Defence Sector.

4. West Bengal rolls out Karma Sathi Prakalpa Scheme to provide loans to youth
- West Bengal Government has launched ‘Karma Sathi Prakalpa’ scheme that will provide soft loans and subsidies to unemployed youth of the state making them self-reliant.
- The scheme has a total outlay of Rs 500 crore.
- West Bengal Govt will be targeting around 1 lakh youth every year to help them start their own business under the scheme.

5. New York’s Times Square observed Indian Flag hoisting for the 1st time
- On India’s 74th Independence Day, Indian Tricolour flag or ‘Tiranga’ was hoisted for the 1st time at the iconic Times Square in New York.
- It was hoisted by India's Consul General in New York, Randhir Jaiswal at the ceremony organised by Federation of Indian Associations (FIA)
- FIA was established in 1970 and is the largest umbrella diaspora organisation that organises India Day Parade to mark India's Independence Day.
- Large number of people joined the celebration.

6. Nagaland Government launches e-commerce platform ‘YellowChain’
- Nagaland’s CM Neiphiu Rio has launched ‘Yellow Chain’ to promote local business and entrepreneurship in the State.
- It is a centralized e-commerce integrated platform, where any Seller/Service Provider/Individual/Group can register themselves and upload their products, trades, skills, services etc. to enable the citizens/buyers
- The platform will include Home service, Delivery service, IT Products & Services, Cab & Taxi Service, Health Care & Education, etc

7. Odisha bags 1st position in implementation of AMRUT scheme
- Odisha has bagged 1st position for the consecutive second year in effective implementation of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme
- It has secured 85.67% in the 2020 ranking of states released by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
- 2nd position is bagged by Chandigarh (75.08%) followed by Telangana (74.04%), Gujarat, Karnataka
- AMRUT scheme is to ensure that every household has access to basic services and build amenities in cities

8. UAE signed historic peace agreement with Israel
- United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel have agreed for peace deal to establish full diplomatic relations
- Under this, Israel would suspend its plans to annex West Bank parts for peaceful, secure, and prosperous Middle East.
- UAE is the third Arab country to open relations with Israel, after Egypt and Jordan
- This will enable the two nations to exchange embassies and ambassadors and begin cooperation on tourism, education, healthcare, trade and security, etc.

9. Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi assumes charge as DGNO
- Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM has assumed charges as the Director of General Naval Operations (DGNO).
- He is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare and is serving Indian Navy since 1985.
- He has served on frontline warships of the Navy.
- He has also commanded INS Vinash, INS Kirch and INS Trishul.
- He is awarded with Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Nausena Medal

- Famous Malayalam Poet-Lyricist, Chunakkara Ramankutty (84 years) passed away in Thiruvananthapuram
- He is known for writing over 215 songs for 76 movies.
- His famous work includes ‘Syamameghame nee’ (Adhipan), ‘Sindoorathilakavumayi’ (Kuyiline thedi), ’Nee Arinjo Mele Manath’ (Kandu Kandarinju), ‘Hridayavaniyile gayikayo’ (Kottayam Kunjachan).
- He was awarded with Guru Shreshta Award of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi in 2015.
