1. Mumbai becomes 1st Indian city to have female icons on traffic signals
- Mumbai has become first Indian city to have women symbols on traffic signals and signage that symbolizes gesture towards gender equality in public spaces.
- It has been installed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)
- The symbol display female icons sporting triangular frock, a shift from the default representation of men.
- The symbols can be spotted at 240 signals on 120 posts situated in 12 different road crossings near Mumbai’s Dadar area.

3. RBI announces ‘positive pay' feature to curb cheque frauds
- Reserve Bank of India has announced ‘positive pay’ feature for cheque transactions to curb frauds.
- Under this new feature, cheque issuer clicks a picture of the cheque before handing it over to the beneficiary and uploads the same on the bank's mobile application.
- Bank's executive can cross-check the details of the shared cheque as soon as it is uploaded.
- Applicable: Cheques of Rs 50,000 and above
- ICICI bank is using this system since 2019

4. Education Minister launches Architectural Education Regulations, 2020
- Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has notified Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 2020 in New Delhi virtually.
- The Regulations will come into effect from 1st November, 2020
- It will superseded 1983 Regulations.
- The new regulations are prepared by Council of Architecture (CoA).
- As per this, Architecture course will have minimum duration of 5 academic years or 10 semesters of 90 days each.

5. Sports journalist GK Menon passes away in Mumbai
- Renonwed sports journalist GK Menon (93 years) passes away in suburban Mumbai.
- He worked as a freelancer with the Indian Express and The Times of India in 1990s
- He played cricket at club level and also was an active member of Shivaji Park Gymkhana, Dadar (Mumbai)
- He was manager of Bombay University team in 1952-53 which won Rohinton Baria Trophy by beating Delhi
- Test players like Chandu Patankar, Ramnath Kenny, Naren Tamhane and GR Sunderam emerge out of this team

6. MoRTH allows electric vehicles registration without pre-fitted batteries
- Road Transport and Highways Ministry has allowed electric vehicles registration without pre-fitted batteries.
- Ministry has also allowed the sake of vehicles without batteries based on the type approval certificate issued by the Test Agency
- There is no need to specify the Make/Type or other details of Battery for the purpose of Registration.
- The step is taken to accelerate the uptake of electric mobility in the country reducing vehicular pollution and oil import bill.

7. Agriculture Minister rolls out Krishi Megh
- Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has launched Krishi Megh (National Agricultural Research and Education System - Cloud Infrastructure and Services) virtually
- It is a step towards digital agriculture of New India.
- National Agricultural Higher Education Project has been funded by Government of India and World Bank
- Krishi Megh is designed for strengthening agricultural education system providing high-quality education to the agricultural university students.

8. Lok Sabha starts beginner-level course in French
- Lok Sabha has started beginner-level course for the officials and staff of Lok Sabha Secretariat at the Parliament House in French language
- 57 officials registered for the course till now
- The course is a initiative undertaken by Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE).
- The inauguration of the course was made by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla
- Other courses in German, Spanish, Russian and other important world languages will also be organized

9. Israel gave AI based technology, equipment to AIIMS for COVID-19
- Israel has handed over Artificial Intelligence-based technologies and high-end equipment to AIIMS, Delhi as part of Israel-India cooperation in fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
- Apart from this, 12-hour disinfection product called CPD was also shared that protects against contamination and non-invasive remote patient monitoring system which is a respiratory screening tool
- The high-end equipment comprised of robotic teleconsultation and telemonitoring equipment.

10. MoRTH rolls out Atulya microwave disinfecting device
- Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has rolled out microwave device titled ‘Atulya’ in Nagpur
- It is can disinfect any premises in just 30 seconds
- It has been certified by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)
- It is fully indigenous and has been manufactured under MSME.
- It can be hand handled and can disinfect any premises up to 5 metres area, besides surface areas, home and office furniture, beds, new boxes.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched platform ‘Transparent Taxation-Honoring the Honest’ through video conferencing
- It is launched in the line of direct tax reforms.
- The platform will promote digital transactions and electronic modes of payment.
- It will ease the tax compliance, along with rewarding honest taxpayers in the midst of coronavirus pandemic
- The new platform will have faceless assessments, faceless appeal and taxpayer charter.

12. Assam Govt launches ‘Orunodoi’ scheme to empower women
- Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched ‘Orunodoi’ scheme to empower women
- Under this, Assam Govt will provide Rs 830 per month each to 17 lakh poor families
- The scheme will select district-wise beneficiaries would begin from August 17 and the beneficiaries would start receiving the amount every month from October onwards
- It will be given to widows, divorced, unmarried or separated women, and disabled persons with less than 2 lakh family income
