1.AIIMS Delhi to start a national programme


• All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AiIMS), Delhi in collaboration with Union Health Ministry and NITI Aayog will start a national programme.

• It is called - National Clinical Grandrounds on COVID-19" from 22 July 2020,

• The programme envisages that every doctor across the country learns and shares their best practices in the treatment of Coronavirus patients

2.Govt extended work from home till 31 Dec



• The Government has extended connectivity norms for work from home for IT and BPO companies till December 31, 2020, due to COVID-19 pandemic.

• Dept of Telecommunications has further extended the relaxations in the terms and conditions for other service providers up to 31st December 2020 to facilitate work from home.

The time period for work from one was expiring on July 31, 2020,

3.Ministry of Railways organized a conference


• Ministry of Railways organized a Pre application Conference on Private Train Project on 21 July 2020,

• The conference received an overwhelming response

with participation of around 16 prospective Applicants • The second pre-application conference is scheduled on

12th of August 2020.

• Issues and concerns raised by the prospective Applicants were discussed and clarifications were provided

4.Government separates operation routes


• Ministry of Shipping has separated the operation routes for merchant vessels and fishing vessels in South West Indian waters

• Ministry has taken the step keeping in view the safety and efficiency of navigation

• The new routes will come into force from 1 August 2020

• It will also reduce instances of collision and will provide sa in flow of traffic.

5.HIL supplied 20.60 MT of DDT to South


Africa

.HIL (India) Limited has supplied 20.60 Metric tonnes of DDT 75 per cent WP to South Africa for their Malaria control program

The Department of Health, South Africa will be utilising DDT in three provinces adjoining Mozambique

6.India, Maldives signed agreement



• India and Maldives have signed an agreement for the establishment of 'Emergency Medical Services in capital Male.

• It is one of the several small and medium projects that are being financed by India under a grant assistance of around 20 million US dollars for the neighbouring country.

7.Oxford University's trials positive


• The early stage human trial data of a COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University reveals that it is safe and induces an immune response, with

mild side effects in some participants . The preliminary results of phase 1/1l trial, published in The Lancet journal, involving 1107 people show that the injection led to them making antibodies and T-cells that can fight the virus

8.BCCI seeks govt permission to host IPL in UAE


• BCCI will seek the government's permission to stage 2020's Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates

This was stated by IPL chief Brijesh Patel on 21 July 2020.

They will discuss the issue in the next governing council meeting in 7-10 days.

• Cricket boards of UAE and Sri Lanka have offered to host the league considering the Corona situation in India.

9.Delhi's Sero-Prevalence study


•A Seroprevalence study conducted in Delhi to understand the proportion of the population exposed to corona infection shows that only 22 86% of the people are affected due to coronavirus.

• The study also indicates that arge number of infected persons remained asymptomatic.

• This study was conducted from 27th of June to oth of July 2020 in all the 11 districts of Delhi.

10.MP: Two-day lockdown every week


• In MP, there will be a lockdown for two days every week including Sundays in districts with high incidence of coronavirus cases in the state

• The number of COVID-19 cases in the state stood at 24,095 while the death toll mounted to 756

• As per the state health department, all 52 districts have

active cases

All activities, except essential services, will be restricted during this period

11.Annual Amarnath Yatra 2020 cancelled


• Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board headed by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu has decided to cancel Amarnath Yatra 2020,

• Murmu presided over the 39th Board meeting of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board on 21 July 2020,

• The traditional rituals shall be carried out as per the past practice and the Chhadi Mubarak shall be facilitated by the Government

12.UP govt issues revised discharge policy


• UP govt has issued revised discharge policy for patients who have recovered from COVID-19 infection

• Now, new guidelines will be followed to discharge any patient in state and a dedicated website UPCOVIDI9TRACKS.IN has been developed to track the information about patients.

• Asymptomatic patients staying in home isolation will be considered recovered if they show no symptoms feo days.

13 .Serum Institute of India to begin trials


• Serum institute of India will be starting trials of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca by the end of August 2020

• It will launch the vaccine by June 2021 if all goes well.

14.Tamil Nadu govt launched a web portal


• Tamil Nadu Government has announced that the unorganized sector workers can now join the state-run welfare boards through a dedicated web portal

The government has formed a secured web portal labour tn.gov in' through which the services could be availed easily.

• The Tamil Nadu Government is running seventeen different welfare boards for the unorganised sector workers

15.Bihar BJP MLC Sunil Kumar Singh died


• Bihar BJP Member of Legislative Council Sunil Kumar Singh died due to COVID-19.

• He is the first lawmaker in the state to die of COVID-19.

Six lawmakers in the state including the legislative council acting chairman, have also tested positive for COVID-19

• Corona has claimed 217 lives in Bihar so far.

• Positive canes in the state have risen to 28,564

16.Coffee Day Enterprises roped in EY India

17.WADA suspended India's dope testing lab


• India's National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) has been suspended for the second period of up to six

months,

• It has been suspended for not conforming to international standards

It had previously been suspended in August 2019 following a WADA site visit, prohibiting it from carrying out anti-doping activities, including all analyses of urine and blood samples.

18.Omidyar launched an initiative



• Omidyar Network India has announced an initiative to invest in building solutions for MSMEs and migrant workers impacted by COVID-19

• Under the ReSolve initiative the company has earmarked funding between Rs 375 crore and Rs 15 crore per project

19.Delhi Cabinet approved a scheme


• The Delhi government has approved doorstep delivery of ration to eligible beneficiaries, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced

• The scheme will be known as "Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna

21.Spanish novelist Juan Marsé died


• Juan Marsé, the Spanish novelist, passed away in July 2020.

One of Spain's most respected novelists over the past few decades, Marsé was awarded the 2008 Cervantes Prize, the Spanish-speaking world's top literary award • Marsé's most popular novel was Ultimas tardes con Teresa (Last Afternoons with Tesoro) published in 1965.

22.Ramesh Babu: MD of Karur Vysya Bank


• Karur Vysya Bank has announced that it has appointed Ramesh Babu Boddu as MD and Chief Executive Officer

• He has been appointed for a period of three years.

• Boddu three-year tenure is effective from the date of taking charge on the terms and conditions approved by Reserve Bank of India.

23.Govt warned against use of N-95 masks


• The Union Health Ministry has warned people against the use of N95 masks with respirator valves in them saying that do not prevent the coronavirus from

spreading out The use of valved respirator N95 masks is detrimental to the measures adopted for preventing the spread of coronavirus as it does not prevent the virus from escaping out of the mask,

24.Banks sanctioned over Rs 1.27 lakh cr loans


• As of 20 July 2020, the total amount sanctioned under the 100% Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) by the banks stands at over 1.27 lakh crore.

Of this, over 77,613 crore rupees have already been disbursed
